Tropical Disturbance (TD) 09F was located near latitude 13.6 South and longitude 177.3 West, or about 285km northwest of 'Esia (Niuafo'ou), or 465km west northwest of Hihifo (Niuatoputapu), or 665km north-northwest of Neiafu (Vava'u), or 760km north-northwest of Pangai (Haapai), or 865km north-northwest of Nukualofa (Tongatapu), or 900km north-northwest of Ohonua (Eua) at 11pm tonight. The system is currently moving south southwest at the speed of 7 knots. Associated clouds, occasional heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong to gale force winds will affect the Niuas in the next 6 - 12 hours. | |
FOR NIUAFO'OU AND
NIUATOPUTAPU: Northerly winds 10-20 knots, rising up to 25 knots at times and it is expected to gust up to 30-40 knots at times today. Cloudy and overcast with heavy occasional rain and thunderstorms. Possible flooding in low lying areas. Very rough seas (up to 3.5 - 4.5 metres). A heavy damaging northwesterly swell (up to 4.5 metres). Poor visibilities due to heavy rain. FOR VAVA'U, HA'APAI, TONGATAPU, 'EUA, TELE-KI-TONGA AND TELE-KI-TOKELAU: East to southeast winds 15-20 knots, rising up to 25-30 knots at times and becoming northerly winds over Vava'u this morning and for Ha'apai group in the afternoon. Cloudy periods with scattered showers then becoming overcast with heavy occasional rain and thunderstorms by midday for Vava'u and Ha'apai group in the evening. Rough seas (up to 3 metres).
