Cancellation of Tsunami Marine Warning for the ‘otu Mu’omu’a in Ha’apai (Nomuka, Mango, Fonoifua), ‘Atataa, ‘Eueiki, Tongatapu mo ‘Eua coastal areas and waters.

(Only Warnings issued by the Tonga Meteorological Service represent the official warning status for Tonga)

The tsunami marine warning previously inforced for the ‘otu Mu’omu’a in Ha’apai (Nomuka, Mango, Fonoifua), ‘Atataa, ‘Eueiki, Tongatapu mo ‘Eua coastal areas and waters are now CANCELLED.

Based on the observation data recorded from the tide gauge at Nuku’alofa, it indicated that the state of the sea level is back to normal. The fluctuation of the sea level recorded in the tide gauge at Nuku’alofa was below 10cm over the past 6 hours.

Therefore, the tsunami marine warning previously inforced for the ‘Otu Mu’omu’a in Ha’apai (Nomuka, Mango, Fonoifua), ‘Atataa, ‘Eueiki, Tongatapu mo ‘Eua coastal areas and waters are now cancelled.

However, ocean currents around these reefs may be strong and erratic in the next 24 to 48 hours and special caution should be exercised
